The Moments I Love
April 29, 2008 by Tyler Orr
I love being at a concert.
I love attending concerts.
I love music.
Especially Christian concerts.
They stir something inside of me.
Imagine we are at a Hillsong United concert. (If you have not heard Fire Fall Down by Hillsong United, listen to it before you continue reading!)
Everything starts of quiet.
“Fire fall down, fire fall down, on us we pray. Fire fall down, fire fall down, on us we pray.”
The drums are slowly building and the electrics are doing their angelic/mystical/captivating sounds. Everything seems very subtle in the room, but the tension is building. You are slowly unfolding before God.
Do you know what I mean?
Everything is slowly building up and people are starting to delve into the music. Some people’s hands are raised while some people are very timid, scared of what their friend will think. But it is coming. Everything inside of you starts to stir as you know that everything you are is about be given to God.
The drums are getting louder:: the electrics are startig to kick in:: the vocals are getting higher and higher.
“Fire fall down, fire fall down, on us we pray. Fire fall down, fire fall down, on us we pray.”
And then it happens, all at once everything works in sync as the music crashes. The lights hit, the drums slam, the electrics are driving, and everyone scream: “On us we pray-ay-ay….”
“FIRE FALL DOWN! FIRE FALL DOWN! ON US WE PRAY!!!!”
It as at the point everyone is offering themselves, their beings, their lives to God. It is at this point where we lay it all down, hands raised, in an offering of our lives, in surrender to God’s will.
It is these moments that I love.
I find myself quickly standing in awe of God because of music. Music just seems to awaken something inside of me and allow me to stand, face to face, with my creator. It’s an amazing feeling and I love it
Something really hit me today. It was a form of revelation/wonder that just knocked me on my face. To undestand where we are, we must start at the begninning.
To be continued…
Your description is exactly how I feel! I have never seen Hillsong United live but even when I listen to With Hearts Joined As One… I feel the same way!
